Agencywide Events

Report to the Community

Family Services’ annual Report to the Community is a heartfelt display of partnership and community-building, bringing together professionals, leaders, and community members for a day of education and mission. Each year, Family Services CEO presents about the agency’s successes and future initiatives during the buffet-style lunch hour, followed by a keynote speaker

In 2026, Family Services brought in keynote speaker, Joseph Petito of the Gabby Petito Foundation, to educate our community on domestic violence risk factors and how the Lethality Assessment Program could have saved his daughter’s life.


Heart of the Hudson Valley Awards Dinner

 

Formerly known as the Family of the Year Awards Dinner, the Heart of the Hudson Valley Awards Dinner is a joyous celebration of community impact and service. With a new and modern twist, you’ll enjoy interactive food stations, live and silent auctions, and a vibrant cocktail hour. As our largest fundraising event, this dinner’s proceeds strengthen Family Services’ work to support everyone’s right to thrive.

Family Services is proud to have honored Maria DeWald with the Right to Thrive Award and Celeste Scotti Tesoro, Julie Tesoro Shook, and Carla Tesoro with the Family of the Year Award. These four women exemplify living in service to others and have strengthened the Hudson Valley community across the fields of education, children’s rights, food insecurity, and more.

 


Program Events

Hope & Healing Art Show

Art and storytelling are some of the most powerful ways to heal. During Crime Victims Rights Week, the Center for Victim Safety & Support hosts an art show and awards ceremony to honor survivors of crime and celebrate the hardworking professionals who uphold victims’ rights.

Gun Violence Awareness Day

Creating joy and healing in our community is central to what we do. SNUG‘s annual Gun Violence Awareness Day event runs all day long, with food, basketball, activities, and more bringing people together for a day of peace.

Back to School Giveaway

Backpacks and school supplies are required for students to attend school each year, but not every family has the resources to provide them. Thanks to many generous donors, Family Services provides 500-650 pre-stuffed backpacks for children and their families in the City of Poughkeepsie.

Trick or Treat at the Family Partnership Center

Finding a safe place for kids to trick or treat isn’t always easy, so we bring our partners together each year to provide candy to little ones and their families! With treats on each floor and halls covered in decorations, the Family Partnership Center offers a fun trick-or-treating afternoon for hundreds of children in Poughkeepsie.
