Family Services founded as the Charity Organization Society

1893

The Charity Organization was succeeded by a group called Associated Charities. Among its organizers were of the best known residents of Poughkeepsie.

1931

Name changes to Family Welfare Association

1955

Name changes to Family Service Association of Poughkeepsie to better align with the people the agency was serving. The agency had become a place to come for professional counseling, problems related to marriage, family quarrels, illness, personality adjustment, and other crises.

1964

Name changes to Family Counseling Services of Dutchess County

1972

Home Care Division starts

1989

Domestic Abuses Awareness Classes starts. Professional Development starts.

1990

Name changes to Family Services of the Mid-Hudson and Harlem Valleys. Relapse Intervention for Sex Crimes starts.

1991

Internship Program Starts.

1992

Crime Victims & Rape Crisis programs start. TransParenting starts. Bringing Up Children starts.

1994

Elder Support Program starts.

1995

Name is changed to Family Services, Inc. Dutchess Home Resource Center Program starts.

1997

Family Partnership Center opens. Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner Program starts.

1998

PPYA & Personal Empowerment and Conflict Education (PEACE) programs start.

1999

The Teen Resource Activity Center starts.

2000

Krieger ASP starts. Roller Coasters starts.

2001

START Jail Program starts.

2002

Clinton After School Program starts. TODAY Group starts. Mental Health Services are added. Duchess Home Resource Center closes. Roller Coasters Program closes.

2003

Families First New York created.

2004

Battered Women’s Services starts. Family Education Program starts. Teen Parent Program starts. Prevention Connections starts.
