Family Services Inc. Announces the Unveiling of the Family Partnership Murals

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (July 3, 2014) - Family Services Inc. is proud to announce the unveiling of the Family Partnership Murals, which will take place on July 17th, 2014 from 4:00-6:00pm throughout the first floor of the Family Partnership Center. Family Services, Inc. CEO Brian Doyle commented that “this project is particularly significant for its engagement of area youth in an array of technical, artistic, and planning skills. We are very grateful to the Jane W. Nuhn Charitable Trust for providing funds in support of this worthy project and to artist, Nestor Madalengoitia who led this effort.”

The event will involve the unveiling of a series of 14 murals that are the products of a collaborative project between local artist and muralist Nestor Madalengoitia and the youth of the Family Partnership Center’s R.E.A.L. (Relationships Empowerment Affirmation Leadership) Skills and Teen Resource Activity Center (TRAC) programs. The murals are installed in public areas throughout the lobby and first floor of the Family Partnership Center, and will help to beautify and enrich the building. Although each mural depicts a different scene, the series has a consistent focus with themes of community engagement and social justice. Moreover, many of the murals serve as a celebration of prominent figures and leaders within the Poughkeepsie community, the history of Poughkeepsie, and the natural beauty of the Hudson Valley.
