"Empowering Survivors and Strengthening Community Response"

bws2Domestic Violence Services of Dutchess County provides assistance, counseling, and support to victims of domestic violence and their children. Additional projects include the Universal Response to Domestic Violence, the Domestic Abuse Response Team, and the High Risk Case Management Project.

All services are accessible, non-judgmental, free and confidential for all victims of domestic abuse regardless of sex, race, age, sexual orientation, ability or religion. Services are available in both English and Spanish.

Our services include a 24-hour hotline, Crisis intervention and individual counseling for victims and their children, Emergency transportation, Advocacy - helping victims obtain needed services, Support groups for victims and survivors, Information and referrals, Education for schools & community groups, Accompaniment to police stations, courts, legal, medical, schools, community organizations, and social services agencies, safety planning and lethality assessments, Information about your rights, and options as a victim of domestic violence.

Domestic violence includes any behaviors that demonstrate one person’s need to have power and control over the other. These behaviors are meant to provoke fear.
