In 1879, the Reverend Edward Lawrence enlisted several good citizens of Poughkeepsie to cooperate in a charitable organization for the poor. His philosophy of helping people help themselves was pretty revolutionary when he started Family Services. Today, we know it’s the best way to help.
Over our 130 years we’ve expanded far beyond the borders of Poughkeepsie. Our programs now include youth development, counseling and support, case management, education, staff training and development, program design and evaluation – all geared to helping people help themselves. Today, our services aren’t limited to the poor. Our clients come from all walks of life and all corners of the Mid-Hudson Valley. |
